Description
Depression sucks. It robs a person of all their happiness. It makes them do things or take risks that can be a detriment to themselves immediately or in the long run. It destroys minds and lives. It strives to make a person feel alone. It doesn’t just go away. I know this because I have had depression for a very long time and still struggle with it at times now. If you are struggling with depression, know that there are many like you. It can be overcome. It is not always easy. Find one thing that makes you happy and if it isn’t self-destructive behavior, focus on that intently. Pull the energy from that idea or thought to help you pull through these rough times. If you would like to talk, feel free to write me. I can’t promise great wisdom, but I can promise that I will listen and that in some form I know what you are going through.
If you have read this far and you don’t suffer from depression, do something to make the world brighter for others who aren’t as lucky. You may not know that someone else is going through something, so share a smile, a laugh, a compliment. Simple acts can be surprisingly meaningful. If you do know someone in particular who seems depressed, the same can help. You can also talk to them and listen. Don’t try to fix the problem. Just support them as they work on it.
I post this because too many suffer and needlessly die. I know it doesn’t seem like it but there is hope out there somewhere. Please reach out and talk to someone. Call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (Lifeline) at 1-800-273-TALK (8255), or text the Crisis Text Line (text HELLO to 741741). Both services are free and available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. All calls are confidential.
