Do your home work at home and show up to the gig and play, pro musicians do this every day, its why they are PROS. most music is the same and if you know your theory it is quite simple. there are literally Seven chords in every key. or seven notes if your a bass player.
I would bet the band looking is playing a large amount of songs that every musician should be familiar with.
