Trió Zenei is a trio with Emma Shook, Alexander Fedoriouk, and Henry Peyrebrune playing primarily Hungarian Folk and classical music~ March 6th - Trió Zenei is a violin, cimbalom, and bass trio formed in 2018, with Emma Shook, Alexander Fedoriouk, and Henry Peyrebrune. The Cleveland-based group has performed in Severance Hall (now Mandel Hall at Severance) and other venues in N.E. Ohio, and plays primarily Hungarian folk and classical music. Alexander Fedoriouk began playing the cimbalom at the age of 7 in Kolomyia, Ukraine. While still in his teens he played weddings in mountain villages in Ukraine and Moldavia. He studied music at the Kolomyia Music School, Chernivtsy Musical College and the Kiev State Conservatory and received awards at the Ukrainian National Competition on Folk Instruments. He has performed as a soloist with The New York Philharmonic, The Odessa Philharmonic Orchestra, and The Cleveland Orchestra among others. He has performed for the film scores both in the United States and Ukraine. Appearing on numerous recordings, Alexander was featured on jazz flutist Herbie Mann’s final album, as well as with avant-garde composer and cellist Erik Friedlander, Nigel Pulsford of Bush and has performed in Carnegie hall with John Cale of the Velvet Underground When not playing at G.A.R. Hall with her Sisters in Song, you can find Emma Shook occupying the Dr. Jeanette Grasselli Brown and Dr. Glenn R. Brown Chair in the Cleveland Orchestra second violin section, which she joined in 2001. Previously, she was a member of the Chicago Lyric Opera and Santa Fe Opera orchestras. Ms. Shook grew up in Oregon, and received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the Juilliard School, where she was a scholarship student of Dorothy DeLay and Hyo Kang. A passionate chamber musician since high school, she performs with many chamber music groups. Her versatility includes folk, bluegrass, jazz, blues, Hungarian, and all styles of classical music. She has also been a teaching artist with the orchestra's Learning Through Music program. Emma lives in University Heights and loves gardening, food, nature, and animals of all kinds. Emma's Hungarian roots are from NE Ohio. Henry Peyrebrune joined the Cleveland Orchestra bass section in 1997. In 2014, he took on additional duties as a gift officer for the Orchestra's development team. Before coming to Cleveland, he served as principal bass with the National Arts Centre Orchestra in Ottawa, Canada and as an active free-lancer in Boston and throughout New England. Mr. Peyrebrune studied with Edwin Barker at the New England Conservatory of Music. He has taught at the Baldwin Wallace Conservatory and served as a teaching artist with the Orchestra's "Learning Through Music" program. He is a board member of the League of American Orchestras, and NoteWorthy Federal Credit Union. In addition to his role in Trió Zenei, he is the guitar player in The Cleveland Bluegrass Orchestra.
