Description

Winner of the coveted Kerrville New Folk Award Mark Elliott will be at Steves Guitars February 11th ! MARK ELLIOTT singer-songwriter/author Mark Elliott is a thirty-year veteran of the Nashville-based singer-songwriter scene, author, blogger, and podcaster. He is also a principal vocalist/guitarist for the Americana band Runaway Home and has written for Nashville’s top publishing houses, including Sony-Tree, Maypop, and Bluewater Music. Independent and major-label artists have recorded Mark’s songs, and he has received airplay on radio and TV in the United States and abroad. His songs have hit the Billboard Top Forty Charts, highlighted by the hit single by Neal McCoy, “Every Man for Himself.” Billboard Magazine called it “a song with rare lyrical and musical edge and the best cut on the album.” He has a string of 2020/2021 solo singles out, including: “Craziest Thing,” “Watch Out Man,” “On My Way To See You,” “Talk To Yourself,” and “Drunk for Nothin’.” 3 Minutes Away Publishing signed Mark as a staff writer in 2021. Mark is also an author. Kirkus Reviews heralded Mark’s current book, The Sons of Starmount: Memoir of a Ten-year-old Boy (out in paperback and audiobook), as a “Joyful book, permeated with a gentle humor that brings to life the exuberance of youth.” Steve’s Guitars opened for business in Carbondale back in 1993. Since then, our intimate, music-listening room has hosted over 1000 shows and presented hundreds of talented musicians coming from all over the states and foreign lands. Our mission is to promote good live music in a room where the top priority is the music. We are not a bar, restaurant or non-profit with other agendas. We just wanted to provide the best possible place for musicians to display their songs. And, we have done so for many years. We hope to continue doing so into the distant future. It’s a great place to play and listen to live music and is ideal for both performers and the audience. One of the side benefits of providing live music every week is our interaction with the local community. People of all ages are welcome and it’s great to have senior citizens mix with babies in the audience. You can bring in your own beverage of choice and enjoy it in a non-smoking, house-concert type setting. We have never needed a bouncer yet and it’s like throwing a good party with your friends and neighbors, every week.
