Enjoy an evening of conversation with Newton's art treasure, sculptor Nancy Schön, & Jim Braude, WGBH Host of Greater Boston & BPR Co-host. At 93 years young, Nancy Schön lives a life of passion and purpose using her artistic talent to engage the world in public art. You can find her on most days spending hours lovingly laboring over wax and clay in her studio in Newton, MA, creating the beginnings of her bronze sculptures. Although her contributions to public art are many, Nancy is best known for her charming bronze sculptures of Eeyore, Piglet and Pooh at the Newton Free Library, the Tortoise and the Hare at Boston's Copley Square and the iconic Make Way for Ducklings at the Boston Public Garden. Join your host, Newton Community Pride, for an up close and personal evening of conversation with Nancy Schön. We welcome Jim Braude, host of WGBH Greater Boston and co host of Boston Public Radio, who will interview Nancy about her life in public art, her inspirations, her process, and her future creative plans. Proceeds from ticket sales will go to Newton Community Pride, a 501c3 arts nonprofit, and to its Nancy Quint Schön Arts Scholarship Fund for high school students pursuing arts in higher education. Ticket price includes an autographed copy of Nancy's book, Ducks on Parade, hors d'oeuvres, dessert, coffee, and a gift bag from Showcase SuperLux Theatre and The Street. At this time, all attendees must show proof of vaccination, and masks are required when not eating or drinking.
