Kevin will discuss permaculture and explain how it can work in your yard. You can feed your family and support wildlife. Permaculture (the word, coined by Bill Mollison, is the conscious design and maintenance of agriculturally productive ecosystems which have the diversity, stability, and resilience of natural ecosystems. It is the harmonious integration of landscape and people — providing their food, energy, shelter, and other material and non-material needs in a sustainable way. Without permanent agriculture there is no possibility of a stable social order. Kevin will discuss permaculture and explain how it can work in your yard. You can feed your family and support wildlife in a sustainable way. Have a beautiful yard with less work, doesn’t everyone want that? Kevin Topek was certified as a Permaculture Designer by Bill Mollison in 1992. He was awarded a Professional Diploma of Permaculture Design in 2016 by the Permaculture Institute of North America. He owns Permaculture Design LLC, a design firm focusing on urban Permaculture. He has gardened in Houston, TX since he was a toddler. Currently he tries to feed his family & neighbors from his small Montrose yard while creating habitat for insects, birds & mammals. Wabash Feed and Garden is a Houston institution. For over 100 years, we have been supplying feed, seed and farming supplies to Houston's early settlers and today's backyard gardeners.  While it is true we are a feed store, we are much more than that. We are a hardware store, a pet shop an organic herb garden and an antique market.  We are the only place in Houston where you can find holistic pet treatments, vegetable and native plants, natural pet foods, bird feeders, fertilizer and an enormous selection of farm poultry all under one barn roof.
