Description
Join us for our monthly queer open mic night Fruit Salad in it's new location, downstairs at DOROTHY! FRUIT SALAD is The Martin's queer, monthly open mic night hosted by Rainn! Fruit Salad is a safe and inclusive space designed to give queer folks the opportunity to be surrounded in community and compassion and get the chance to both perform and be witness to beautifully queer works of art. After last month's sold out (& then some) showcase, we're moving Fruit Salad downstairs to our newly (re)opened cocktail lounge, Dorothy! This makes Fruit Salad a 21+ event. Doors open at 6:45pm and the open mic list goes up at 7pm! This month we are expanding our open mic list to ten slots with 3-5 minute performances. Show up early if you want a chance to perform! The show begins at 7:30. After the open mic and a short intermission, our feature performer goes on for the evening! This month's feature is Tommy Bravos! Tommy Bravos is a Greek-American pop artist here in Chicago! His music blends a love of movement and theatrics with the concept of mindfulness. Pulling influence from eclectic interest, including disco, transcendental ambiance, and synth-pop, his goal is to take listeners on an introspective and divine journey through their emotions while using the upbeat energy of pop music to take pressure off exploring our feelings. Entry for Fruit Salad is a $5 suggested donation in advance and $6 at the door. Proceeds go toward our host & performer for the evening. Dorothy is located below The Martin! Simply continue down the sidewalk for entry and go through the red door that says "LOUNGE". We'll see you at the bottom of the stairs. If any guest has accessibility questions, feel free to reach out today - we are fully ADA accessible! This event is vaccinated only and fully masked. Proof of vaccination must be provided at the door. Masks must be work when not actively drinking. The bar at Dorothy will be open and available. Want to dine at Split-Rail before your evening? We recommend making a reservation. The Martin is an artist-first community space located in the West Town neighborhood of Chicago.
