Milk Paint Puzzle (Youth Classes); Sumter County Gallery of Art
The Sumter County Gallery of Art works with local South Carolina artists and teachers to provide affordable art classes to those who live in or near Sumter. We run multi-week and single session classes for both adults and youth to explore new mediums or practice already familiar mediums. We strive to be a positive and welcoming space for participants of all skill levels.
We are very excited to welcome Tony Marra of PasQuali Paints to our retinue of teachers this spring. Tony is the founder of PasQuali Paints, a company that makes eco friendly milk paint. Milk paint is a historical method of paint making that has been used for centuries to bring color to the world. Non-toxic and free of VOCs, milk paint is a safe and environmentally friendly alternative to acrylic paint, which is made of plastic.
PasQuali Paints is passionate about the history of South Carolina and uses their family friendly milk paint workshops to share the history of the state and help bridge generational gaps. The partnership with the Sumter County Gallery of Art is of extra special interest to Tony, who is a Sumter native. Though now he lives on the coast, Sumter is his hometown and much of his family still lives here, including his two wonderful granddaughters! The milk paint classes hosted this spring by the Sumter County Gallery of Art will explore the history of Tony's two homes. Participants will learn all about milk paint through the historical lenses of Sumter and coastal South Carolina.
Some other classes coming up at the gallery this spring include, but are not limited to, printmaking, pottery, and batik. Learn more about the Sumter County Gallery of Art and sign up for the classes we offer through our website or by giving us a call at 803-775-0543.
