Description
FALMOUTH, MA — Falmouth is looking for resident feedback on how to improve transportation on town roads, for motorists, pedestrians, bicyclists, transit riders and people with disabilities.
Town officials created an online survey where resident can give their input on the Complete Streets prioritization plan. The project is part of the Massachusetts Department of Transportation's (MassDOT) Complete Streets Program, which the Cape Cod Commission will conduct a study for.
Town officials said the purpose of the study is to explore transportation improvement alternatives that will reduce conflicts, improve traffic flow, and incorporate multi-modal transportation options in Falmouth, while furthering the creation of vibrant, pedestrian and bicycle-oriented mixed-use centers throughout the town.
More than 300 potential Complete Streets projects were identified through the initial public comment period in January 2021. In collaboration with the town, a list of 50 priority projects were identified and included in the draft prioritization plan.
Town officials said the new survey will further refine the draft prioritization plan and 50 projects that were presented at a public meeting held on Jan. 19.
Guided by the input from public meetings, Cape Cod Commission staff will prepare a final report and the Complete Streets Prioritization Plan. The prioritization plan will be submitted to MassDOT. Approved projects are eligible for up to $400,000 in construction funding from MassDOT.
Those that wish to fill out the survey must do so by Feb. 22.
