WEST HAVEN, CT — Former West Haven Councilwoman Louise Martone will serve two years of probation after being found guilty of selling narcotics out of her business, according to the New Haven Register. The Register reports Martone, who served on the City Council as a Democrat in the 10th District, pleaded under the Alford doctrine in which a defendant doesn't admit guilt but concedes that the state has enough evidence for a conviction at trial. Martone, who owns Louise's Homemade Food and Baked Goods on Ocean Avenue, was arrested last June following a lengthy investigation into prescription Oxycodone pills being illegally sold out of the bakery, police said at the time. Martone faces five years in jail if she violates the terms of her probation, according to the Register. Read more at the New Haven Register here.
