WALLINGFORD, CT — A New Britain man has been arrested in connection with a "peeping Tom" investigation in Wallingford, according to police. Craige Stephens, 40, was arrested Jan. 19 following a lengthy investigation involving several search warrants, according to Sgt. Stephen Jaques. Police received numerous reports in 2020 and 2021 of a "peeping Tom" in Wallingford who was looking into people's windows, Jaques said. During the nighttime hours on July 23, police responded to the area of Clifton Street on the report of a person outside a victim's window in the back yard. The victim told police that they saw someone looking through their window, according to Jaques. Jaques said responding officers found concrete blocks stacked near the window where the victim saw the person. Officers found several pieces of evidence in the area and the case was further investigated by the Wallingford Police Detective Division, according to Jaques. Investigators also found that Stephens was arrested by Canton police on Oct. 5 for a similar incident, according to Jaques. Stephens was charged by Wallingford police with voyeurism, disorderly conduct and third-degree criminal trespass. He was released after posting a $25,000 bond with a court date of March 2. Anyone with information regarding any similar incidents is asked to call Detective Houlihan at 203-294-2844.
