NAUGATUCK, CT — A 37-year-old Ansonia man was arrested on narcotics charges over the weekend after Naugatuck police found bags of cocaine and crack cocaine in his car following a motor vehicle stop for a busted tail light.
Lin Byrd was charged with two counts of possession of narcotics with intent to sell; criminal impersonation; interfering with an officer; and violation of parole in connection with the incident.
After pulling Byrd over on Waterbury Road near Route 8, Officer James Tortora found a total of roughly 30 grams of drugs in three small bags in the Byrd's car.
During the traffic stop, Byrd initially told Tortora that he was someone else, but the officer eventually found out his real identity.
"It was discovered that Mr. Byrd currently had an active felony arrest warrant out of Shelton, and a felony warrant for violating probation," Naugatuck police wrote on Facebook (see below).
Byrd was held in lieu of bail of $40,000, and was scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Monday for arraignment.
