Press release from the City of Waco: January 21, 2022 WACO, TEXAS (January 21, 2022) – The District II Special Election filing period has been revised and will differ from the General Election filing. The Texas Election Code Chapter 201.054 prescribes a different filing period for a Special Election to fill a vacancy. The last day to file an application will be Monday, March 7, 2022, at 5 p.m. The last day to file an application to have the name of the candidate placed on the ballot for the City of Waco Mayor, Council District I or Council District III is Friday, February 18, 2022, at 5 p.m. Applications should be filed with the City Secretary at the City of Waco City Secretary's Office, 300 Austin Ave., 1st Floor of City Hall.
