DENVER, CO — Though the omicron surge may be receding, as of Jan. 18, Denver's Department of Public Health and Environment reported a one-week case rate of 1,272. That rate informs Denver's face mask public health order and is down from the 1,745 cases reported on Jan. 12. Denver is working to provide free masks to its residents in accordance with the order, which requires everyone older than two to wear a mask indoors. As of Monday, Denver Parks and Recreation has received 100,000 KN95 and surgical masks, which will be distributed at 29 recreation centers to residents across the city, officials said. This comes as a component of Colorado's mask distribution efforts. Masks will not be available for pickup at any Denver libraries, fire stations, or the La Alma recreation center, which is currently closed, officials said.
