PLAINFIELD, IL — The annual Bags of Hope food drive has begun in Plainfield. Taking place Monday through Friday at Creekside Elementary School, the effort will raise donations to provide meals for hundreds of Plainfield District 202 students weekly.
Community members can drop off non-perishable food items at the school, located at 13909 S. Budler Road in Plainfield, daily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Items can be sent with kids or placed in food boxes inside the school's main entrance.
Select items, such as kid-friendly snacks, are specifically needed, organizers noted. They include:
Boxed pastaCanned meats, including tuna and chickenCanned spaghetti sauceCanned vegetablesCanned fruitRamen (brick form)Mac and cheese boxesGoldfishGranola barsFruit snacksPopcorn When possible, organizers said no glass jars are preferable.
