JOLIET, IL — For the past several years, people visiting the Will County Courthouse were not allowed to bring their cell phones into the building, but that policy is coming to an end. On Monday, Will County Chief Judge Dan Kennedy issued a news release stating that "court visitors will be permitted to bring portable electronic devices" into the Will County Courthouse effective Jan. 31. "Of course, there will be some challenges along the way, but I am confident that our bailiffs, court security officers and judges will be able to balance the need for these devices with the safety of everyone working and using the courts," Kennedy announced Monday. All electronic devices brought into the Will County Courthouse must be put on silent mode. Taking photos, audio or video recordings, whether in court or common areas, will not be permitted.
