Press release from San Diego County Sheriff's Department: 01/24/2022 6:19 PM On January 24, 2022 at about 11:03AM, deputies from the San Marcos Station responded to a report of a vehicle versus motorcyclist collision at the intersection of Mulberry Drive and Borden Road, in the city of San Marcos. Upon arrival, San Marcos Fire Department personnel rendered medical aid to a 62 year-old motorcyclist. He had been riding his motorcycle westbound on Borden Rd, when he was involved in a collision with a vehicle and was ejected onto the roadway. The other vehicle, a Chevrolet Colorado pick up truck, was traveling northbound on Mulberry Dr. The driver of the truck, a 31 year-old male, was not injured from the collision.  The motorcyclist was transported to Palomar Medical Center and was later pronounced deceased from the injuries sustained from the collision.  The intersection was partially closed for several hours, while the investigation was conducted. At this time, it is unknown if speed and/or alcohol were a factor in the collision.  The investigation is ongoing, and is being handled by the San Marcos Station Traffic Division.
