GWINNETT COUNTY, GA — The Gwinnett County Police Department is accepting applications until Feb. 10 for its upcoming Citizens Police Academy. Residents will get an in-depth, behind-the-scenes look at how police officers serve and protect the community, according to its website. The program will run from March 8 through May 5 from 6:30 – 9:00 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday. Residents who are interested in joining the academy are encouraged to complete an application to be considered. Some topics will include crime prevention, active threats, use of force and more, according to the Gwinnett County website. The mission of the academy is to help mold and develop responsible, well-informed residents who want to learn more about their police department. Applications received after the deadline will be considered for future CPA sessions. Residents can apply by emailing Sergeant Eric Rooks at [email protected] or by mailing P.O.
