Plant Health Care – Vegetation Management Technician At General Tree Service, we care for everything from trees and shrubs to the soil and its surrounding landscape. We are now hiring for a Vegetation Management Technician. We are seeking a full time pesticide applicator to apply herbicides to private residences, industrial sites, open spaces, and pastures using equipment such as off road ATV's, UTV's, pickup trucks, hose reels, and backpack sprayers. This position is ideal for a candidate with experience operating outdoor power equipment and familiar with pesticide usage, though experience is not necessary. Responsibilities: • Knows and follows Plant Health Care Department Service Standards regarding paperwork, equipment, and production. • Demonstrates excellent customer service and internal relations skills. • Helps maintain all aspects of on-the job safety practices. • Maintains company standards regarding punctuality and reliability. • Be able to complete assigned work in an efficient and thorough manner. • Follows proper procedures regarding chemical handling, storing, loading, mixing and applying. • Keeps up-to-date on latest revisions with EPA or Department of Agriculture in local jurisdiction. • Performs other related work as assigned. • Assists in other departments as the need arises. • Knowledgeable of and proficient in technique to apply the following types of chemicals: pre/post-emergent, selective/non-selective, bare ground/ sterilant, broadleaf herbicides. Requirements: • Must be dependable and punctual. • Must pass pre-employment physical. • Must pass pre-employment drug test. • Must be able to work in a safe manner as outlined in the Company Safety Policy. • Reliable transportation is required to and from work. • Good driving record - no DUI’s, reckless operations, or similar violations within the last five years. • Positive, can-do attitude. • Friendly and committed to providing great customer service. • Organized, dedicated, and detail-oriented with excellent communication skills. • Oregon Department of Agriculture Commercial Pesticide Applicator license desired but not required. • Be able to lift 50+ pounds and walk several miles daily. • This is a Monday - Friday position, but weekend work, and early morning hours will be occasionally required. • Must be able to work outdoors under varying and sometimes adverse weather conditions. • Must have the digital dexterity and muscle coordination necessary to control equipment used in the field. • Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions in English. • Must be able to maintain written records and demonstrate legible written skills Benefits: 100% company paid medical and dental insurance premiums for our employees with subsidized insurance premiums for dependents, 401(k) with employer match, 125 plan, tuition reimbursement, paid holidays, and paid personal time off.
