Position Overview The Dragon Heart Farm Manager position is responsible for leading and directing staff with the daily production and maintenance of Dragon Heart Farm, including all gardens, orchards, and animal areas on the 20 acre estate. Primary objectives are to achieve financial sustainability by increasing food security and ecological integrity, providing a year-round supply of food, medicine, products, and other crops for Kohala and Hawaii Island communities. The Farm Manager will work collaboratively with Touching the Earth core management team to develop and implement land management practices that meet the highest standards of environmental stewardship. Job Description Guided by sustainability, permaculture practices and/or similar (like Korean Natural Farming), the Farm Manager leads farm team members to be efficient, productive stewards of farm properties, protectors of assets, producers of local food and soil amendments, and curators of closed-loop sustainable systems. The Farm Manager oversees the farm and soil amendment production operations to maximize labor efficiency and food productivity, maintains and protects the land, trees, building surrounds and equipment used to care for those grounds. Farm Manager collaborates with management and coworkers to achieve team-oriented production and sales goals along with the ability to manage individual projects.
