Description

Starts March 23rd (Wednesdays from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.) Starts March 23rd (Wednesdays from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. for six weeks) Building upon foundational metalsmithing techniques, this class will elevate your existing skills and inspire you to tackle more advanced jewelry projects. We will cover bezel and tube gemstone settings, piercing, bench pin alterations, soldering techniques, and finishing. We will move through assigned projects but there will be plenty of room for creativity and exploration of what is specifically interesting to you. Be prepared to learn tips and tricks that will advance your jewelry making to the next level! Please note: It is important that students have basic metalsmithing knowledge, either through the beginner 6-week metalsmithing course at Artascope or a comparable class. Non-members: $250 for 6 weeks. Members: $200.   Fee does not include materials. A supply kit of sterling silver components is available from the instructor for $35 when series begins. Additional supplies are available to purchase separately as needed for class projects. NOTE: COVID-19 protocols are in place for the safety of our teachers and students, including wearing masks while inside the building. About the instructor: Carly Cooke has been a full-time bench jeweler since 2012, and started her business, Flux Jewelry Studio in 2018. Carly pieced together her jewelry education through workshops at Haystack, Metalwerks, SMCC, and an inspiring year in Florence, Italy learning traditional metalsmithing techniques. Carly specializes in custom wedding and engagement jewelry, filigree, and unique engraved finishing details. Open to adults only. Artascope at bec is a 501(c)(3) organization that raises money for experiential education programs by offering art classes and studio memberships in Yarmouth, Maine.
