BURKE, VA — The Burke Historical Society is holding a virtual program Tuesday night called Burnt Burke about notable structures in Burke that have been lost to fires throughout the history of the community. As part of the Burke Historical Society Lecture Series and conducted in conjunction with the Pohick Regional Library of the Fairfax County Public Library system, a group of Burke Historical Society members — Cindy Bennett, Chris Barbuschak, Brian Slawski and Jon Vrana — will give presentations on dramatic fires in the community. Tuesday's program will be the first time that the Burke Historical Society has given this particular presentation. The program will take place from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Visit the Fairfax County Public Library website to register for the online event. The program is recommended for ages 13 and older. Robert E. Marshall's rental house is destroyed during a controlled burn by the Burke Volunteer Fire Department in the early 1960s.
