SUMMARY OF POSITION: The tube operator is responsible for the plants produce cooling machinery. Must have previous experience in this specific field and within a produce setting SPECIFIC DUTIES: a. The tube operator shall see that all of the machines are serviced with oil as may be needed making sure that oil flows continuously and that all the machines are operating correctly. He must be sure that the cooling machinery is operated with the utmost care for the protection of the life and longevity of the equipment. b. The tube operator shall load the produce into the tubes in a careful manner so as to prevent the product from falling off the loading dollies and in the event any shall do so, he shall maintain it with as little damage as possible, replace it and continue the cooling process without loss to the Company's customers. c. The tube operator shall keep such records as required by the Company and shall preserve those at the conclusion of the shift at a place the Company designates. d. The tube operator shall acquaint himself for each product handled and shall carefully and diligently cool the product to that temperature and shall at the conclusion of the cooling cycle verify that the product is at the proper temperature before releasing it for transport to the cold room or place of shipment. e. The tube operator shall record the temperature of the product before its entry into the cooling tube and after its release from the cooling tube and shall transmit that record as instructed by the Company and shall certify by signature thereon that all such temperatures were obtained from and by him. f. The tube operator should be acquainted with the duties of the 12-pallet forklift operator and when volume is not sufficient to warrant (2) persons, the tube operator should be prepared to perform the function of the 12-pallet operator JOB KNOWLEDGE: The tube operator shall acquaint himself with all the mechanical functions and in case of malfunctions within his/ her capability, repair the machine. If further assistance is necessary, he/she shall call the maintenance personnel. Must have knowledge of data entry into computer and excel program.
