Company Overview We are a family-owned scrap metal recycling facility. We buy scrap metal from the public and local businesses and process it so it can be recycled into new products. Position Overview QC Inspector is an essential role at our business and the scrap industry in general. Not only is it a critical safety and operations role, it’s also an important customer service role. You’ll be greeting, directing, and assisting customers throughout the day while also grading materials, identifying prohibited items, and coordinating with scale and equipment operators. You are: • Hard working, self-motivated, and willing to go the extra mile without being asked • Cheerful, friendly, eager to provide customers with a pleasant experience • Safety-conscious • Detailed and thorough • Comfortable multitasking • Looking for a long-term position Position Details: • Inspect inbound and outbound loads for: • Material grading – ensure products meet specifications and sort/separate accordingly • Prohibited materials (sealed containers, hazardous materials, explosives, etc.) • Customer service & support • Greet customers enthusiastically • Direct and assist customers with material unloading • Direct traffic effectively in a busy environment with lots of noise, trucks, and other equipment operating in the same area • Communicate clearly and efficiently via radio to scale, equipment operators, and other departments regularly • Use forklifts for unloading assistance • Keep working/unloading area clean and organized, free of spills, litter, sharp objects • Physical demands – standing, walking, bending, lifting, carrying up to 50lbs throughout shift • Typical shift: 7:45am-4:45pm Mon-Fri. Overtime opportunities available. • Position is outdoors. Expect regular exposure to rain, cold, and heat. • Proper PPE required at all times: high-visibility garments, safety-toe boots, hard hat, safety glasses Experience & Qualifications • High school diploma or GED • Industrial or construction experience preferred • Industrial equipment operation experience preferred • Prior customer service experience preferred • Must be comfortable working outdoors and getting dirty Benefits: • Annual safety boot reimbursement program • Uniform & laundry services • Paid time off • Paid holidays • Health insurance (employer sponsored) • Dental insurance (employer paid) • Vision insurance (employer sponsored) • 401k • Gym membership
