Employment type: part-time with potential to become full-time A privately owned funeral home in Gaithersburg, MD needs a professional Porter to join their team. We are looking for a “Jack of all trades” to fill a vital role in the Maintenance and upkeep of our grounds, facility, and vehicles. A Maintenance Technician performs ongoing facility maintenance and repairs on equipment. They should be able to be a self-starter and thrive in a fast-paced work environment and always support the entire team. If you are hard-working and dedicated this job may be for you. There is a 90 day probationary period for any new hire to ensure there is a good fit. (on time, no missed days, team player, hard-working, etc.). Must be able to work weekends. Job Description not limited to: Maintains the overall appearance two funeral home locations, which includes: maintenance and grounds keeping, and repairs and maintenance tasks. Maintenance of grounds: clears debris such as leaves and garbage, maintains drives and walkways which will require snow removal, maintain flower beds/pots/planting and watering. Cleaning maintenance of facilities not limited to cleaning, dusting, vacuuming, mopping, sanitizing, shampoo carpets, buffing, cleaning windows, emptying trash receptacles, breaking down of bulky items for placement in dumpster. Wiping down interior and exterior doors, maintain the building’s appearance. Cleans and maintains facility to include performing repairs, painting, etc. Able to work with hired contractors Maintain applicable cleaning supplies levels as needed and make requests for replenishments. Stock bathroom, chapel, conference room supplies as needed. Maintains all entrances to be clear of trash, gum, cigarettes, etc. and entry doors and walls clear of finger prints. Maintains cleans and properly stores equipment Arranges chapels for services Change lightbulbs Monthly check and maintenance of smoke detectors and fire extinguishers Observe safety rules and ensure compliance with the operating procedures of corporate, federal, state and local regulations, including OSHA regulations and Safety and Environmental guidelines. Cleans and maintains mechanical maintenance of vehicles (gas, oil, filters, and tire rotations) Assistance to funeral directors with lifting of caskets REQUIREMENTS High school education or equivalent or relevant work experience Pass background check Minimum 2 years of relevant experience Clean Driving Record and Valid Driver’s License Required Ability to operate hand-held tools and equipment, including, but not limited to a shovel, pick, rake, hammer, drill, screwdrivers, lawn mower, weed trimmer and leaf blower and utilize and safely climb ladders Ability to accurately use measuring devices (i.e. tape measure, yardstick, etc.) Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time Ability to lift up to 50 lbs without assistance Ability to push and pull up to 300 lbs. With equipment assistance Ability to communicate effectively with associates, contractor personnel and client families Ability to work AND get to work in extreme weather conditions Ability to adapt to changing work schedules and multi-tasking Good Communication skills Follows directions well Shows attention to detail Knowledge of proper use of cleaning products and chemicals Ability to workdays, nights, weekends and holidays Ability to stand for extended periods of time Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull Ability to bend at waist and perform repetitive foot and hand action Ability to reach overhead Must be a self-starter and self-sufficient Ability to work without assistance Basic computer skills to enable retrieving and responding to email communications Interested?
