This training course is designed to teach family members how to create a safety net for suicidal youth.
It’s Time to Talk About It is designed to teach family members, care givers, and other invested community members who interact with young people how to recognize the warning signs and risk factors of suicide so that they are able to identify these signs in youth who they may encounter in everyday activities and have conversations about suicide that help youth create a safety net.
During the course, you will:
Learn How to Identify Risk by learning the warning signs and risk factors of suicide and differentiating between warning signs and risk factors.Learn How to Talk about Suicide by learning strategies to approach youth and to communicate with youth and learning how to ask the suicide question.Learn How to Support a Youth in Need by learning how to build a safety net for at-risk youth, learning ways to promote strengths and resiliency/protective factors, and learning about resources that can help.Participants earn a three-year certification upon completion.
