Press release from the Baltimore County Police Department: January 21, 2022 Baltimore County Police Officers are wearing a memorial ribbon bar on their uniform or a mourning band on their badge today in memory of a fallen hero. On December 31, 2001, Sergeant Mark Parry was scheduled to be off but came into work so someone else could take off. He was on patrol on Joppa Road in Towson when a drunk driver struck the unmarked police car he was riding in. The drunk driver fled the scene but was later taken into custody. Sergeant Parry was rushed to the hospital where he died from his injuries on January 21, 2002. He was married and the father of three children. Sergeant Mark Parry's name, along with the names of other fallen heroes, is inscribed on a monument at Patriot Plaza in Towson.  This press release was produced by the Baltimore County Police Department.
