Hi there! I’m not yet on MassHealth but I’d like to see a dentist soon for just a routine cleaning because it’s been more than a year. Boston area, Cambridge, Somerville, Malden, etc all good.
I want it to be low-cost or FREE regardless of lack of insurance. How am I going to find this? My ideas are:
-going to the dental school in one of the universities here (NEU? BU? Tufts?) and having one of the dentistry students do it in their training program
or
-literally swindling a dentist’s office: come in for the appointment and say “oops I’m so sorry I left my insurance card at home” and they say “oh that’s okay, well go ahead and come in for the appointment and we will email you for your insurance information and billing later” and then I just never send it to them and never go there again. Some people do this, it works!! Sorry, dentists! *shrugs* Some people even give a fake name and just pretend they forgot their whole wallet or something, then you’re untraceable. …. So… do *you* know if your dentist’s office tends to say “no worries come on in” when new patients come without their information? If so maybe that is the place for me!!
-or would some other idea work??
Respond if you have a concrete answer for me so I can go get my teeth cleaned soon!! (If only we lived in a country like Australia where medical visits are pretty much free anyway)
And in the meantime I will finish applying for MassHealth … as slow as that whole process can be!
Thank you so much!! And have a great day :)
