Description
This dog is really smart, he learns fast. He is also HUGE! Like already a full size german shepherd at 6 months old. I thought I could handle a dog this big, but I cannot, especially when trying to train him to not eat my cat or be leash reactive and especially on days when my arthritis is acting up. I also don't think my cat will ever accept him as a member of this household (even though he's lived with a dog before this one) and that is problem because he antagonizes the dog, which makes it harder to train the dog to be civil around the cat. I cannot risk the dog hurting my cat and my roommates are starting to regret my decision because of him barking at the cat. He also is doing better than when I got him at not barking at people when outside, but he definitely needs work. He will most likely bark at you when you first meet, and that will scare people, he barked at me when I first met him, but I just sat down, grabbed one of his toys and handed him a treat and that seemed to do the trick, instant friends after that. He's a cuddler, so that may be a problem if you don't want a 70+ pound dog on top of you. his favorite games are fetch, and tug toys, his favorite toys are balls, frisbees and anything that makes noise. He comes with all his things (collar, harness, dog bed, slip lead, snuffle mat, food bowls, prong collar, toys, crate, almost a full 30 pound supply of food, calming treats and spray, training treats and rawhides). You basically won't have to buy anything when you get him. For his breed, he's actually pretty chill and will happily take many naps throughout the day as long as you exercise him for at least an hour and 1/2 a day. I want him to go to an experienced owner first and foremost, he's a good boy and he deserves to be somewhere better. He's not neutered and the previous owners said he has his shots, but they only gave me the rabies tag. He's really good at letting you know when he has to potty (no accidents in the house yet), and is also puppy pad trained (comes with some puppy pads too). He's extremely playful and can get pretty zoomie sometimes, so be aware of that since he's a big boy and won't hesitate to knock you over. He will most likely be anxious at first, but will start to settle in after 2 weeks. He knows "sit, wait, down, leave it, drop it" but will definitely need some more training with it as he has a very short attention span (as puppies do). Rehoming fee is $200, I've already sunk about $1000 into this dog already, not counting the work I've done trying to train him every day.
