Just testing the waters here. See if anyone is interested and thinks this could be successful, too.
I think and AIC cover band is a no brainer. It would fun. Then we could see if it stands a chance of being popular. I've got the Jerry parts down. Can do some Layne vocals, too.
Looking for bass and drums and a Layne - more vocals, but need to play some guitar like Layne did. Not really looking for a vocalist only, sorry. Even though we'd do it for fun, we want to get paid. There is not much $$ for bands in local bars. Having the vocalist that doesn't play an instrument makes it financially unfeasible, really. Look around. You rarely, if ever, (I don't think I ever have seen in Denver) see a vocalist who doesn't play an instrument.
I'm really certain that an AIC tribute band would get gigs. More so than lets say the Tears For Fears tribute band I see someone trying to put together. I mean Tears For Fears has 2 popular songs. How is that going to be able to play an entire night? TFF is a good 80's band. Not dragging them. Just sayin I don't think people will spend hours at a bar listening to TFF deep cuts, waiting for you to finish with 'Everyone Rules The World'. Bar owners are looking for bands that can keep asses in the seats. Some tribute bands stand a better chance of doing this than others. And, as you know, if you make the bar owner money, you will likely get to play there again. Maybe even a residence once per month, if lucky.
No pay for play like Herman's or Toad. Only play for pay.
AIC has enough popular songs to do 3 sets easy. We can make the second set Unplugged. I've seen AIC do 3 sets at a show once and the second set was Unplugged. Seems like a fun idea.
Let's get to rehearsing those vocal harmonies!
Peace
