1.5 year old Rat Terrier looking for a cat free home

Hello there! We have decided to make the difficult decision to rehome our young dog. He is a 1.5 year old purebred rat terrier who is very active and outgoing. Flash came to us as a 6 month old puppy who was abused and a bi product of covid adoptions. His prior owners had him living on a 6 foot leash outback and only fed him when they remembered. Because of this, he can be nervous and timid at times. He also doesn’t eat at his food bowl and carries it around, mouthful by mouthful eating it in hiding. He has come a long way but still needs someone to work on his socialization and trust. The reason we are rehoming him is because he has made it his full time job to torment our cat. She is tolerant and playful but she has been scratching his eyes in defense and as a result he has a white clouding on his left eye. I am certain that he will end up blind if I don’t separate them. Being that we are renters and I don’t have the ability to separate them full time we have decided it is a one or the other decision and unfortunately, it’s easier to rehome the young, sweet, loyal, playful dog instead of the 7 year old cat. I would like to see him go to someone who is familiar with his breed and training. Rat terriers are special, lol, and stubborn. I’d prefer it to be a home with another dog and a yard.
