Description
Elliot is a very sweet little guy, but unfortunately we need to re-home him. We wanted an intelligent, active dog to be a companion and playmate to our other dog, but he just doesn't fit our family well. Elliot is pretty nervous around men and has just never bonded to my husband. He sometimes barks at neighbors and deliverymen (not excessively but definitely lets us know they are there!).
He really loves our kids, and did okay with our cat (tried to play with him but never chased). He has been around chickens and cows a few times and hasn't been interested in chasing them. Loves being outside. He can be pretty nervous around other dogs at first, but quickly warms up, especially if they like to play or he can steal their toys.
Elliot sleeps at my feet every night and follows me everywhere, which I adore, but he just needs a bit more time with training and activity. We have two very young children and full-time jobs so unfortunately we are not able to give him the exercise and attention he deserves.
Elliot isn't a very large dog; we were told he is a border collie but he's a little small and doesn't seem to be as intelligent as collies are known to be. He probably weighs less than 30lbs. He had his puppy shots, but I believe he still needs a rabies shot and a round of adult ones in a few months.
Elliot isn't a wanderer and prefers to stay close to home. That being said, he does like to dig holes, though he has never tried to escape our fence. He has some training and has the basics down, just needs some positive reinforcement to keep it going and improve.
Overall, he is a dear little friend, just needs someone with a little more time.
