Southington Cops Arrest Meriden Man In Knifepoint Robbery Case

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A Meriden man has been charged by Southington police in connection with an armed robbery at a local gas station in the fall. The robbery took place Oct, 17 at the Sunoco station, 957 West St. Edgardo Colon-Rosa, 31, of Meriden, was arrested on a warrant Friday and charged with first-degree robbery and fourth-degree larceny, police said. His bond was set at $350,000. According to an incident report,Colon-Rosa entered the store, and, after walking to the backof the establishment began engaging the clerk in conversation. Colon-Rosa then ran toward the employee, removed a knife from his pocket, and ordered the clerk to the ground, according to a report. After threatening the clerk with the knife, Colon-Rosa demanded money and then helped himself to cash from the register, according to a report. Colon-Rosa then dropped a bag ran out the store's front door, according to a report. Police said he made off with between $800 and $900. Colon-Rosa's description is similar to that of a suspect in a string of burglaries occurring in neighboring towns, police said.
