Qualifications • Previous equine knowledge i.e.. Behavior, feeding recommendations, safety knowledge; symptoms of infectious diseases, the more horse knowledge the better • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record • Ability for physical labor including lifting over 75 lbs • Able to work independently • Must be responsible, punctual, detailed oriented • Quick learner • Great communication skills • Ability to take and give direction • Must have experience operating heavy equipment such as a skid steer and zero turn mower • Reliable transportation Responsibilities • Responsible for all aspects of horse care for 30+ horses, including feed, nutrition, and other health maintenance; identifying and responding to illness and injuries; turnout • Clean and maintain water troughs, pastures, and paddocks • Set up traps for wild animals • Maintaining the grounds around all buildings on property • Prune trees and shrubs • Apply pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides to get rid of pests, fungus, and diseases in pastures and around property • Mow lawns, pastures, and fields • Sweep / blowout walkway and barn of debris • Cut down tree limbs that are posing a danger in pastures and on riding trails • Perform minor repairs and maintenance throughout property • Maintain riding trails
