Experienced Bassist looking to play more

Description
I'm in my mid-sixties. Have years of on and off varied musical experience in Wilmington area, but not playing as much as before. Looking to jam/play not-too-seriously with experienced players on a fairly regular basis. I am currently committed to a band and will not take another working gig where conflicts may arise. Does not mean that I will not change bands, but I am dependable and to me that includes a degree of loyalty and honesty toward all folks involved. That said, I am willing to work with established bands or help develop one. I would like to find a group of folks who want to play, but don't need to play for the money or have to get out and work gigs too seriously. I really don't mind "staying in the garage" with decent players, but playing out does not bother me, if that's where it goes. Again, I will not schedule conflicts with the band I am currently committed to but given that no one seems to have too many gigs right now, maybe that's not a big issue. Don't want to deal with most "jam bands". Around here, that seems to be code for folks that haven't learned new music in 40 years and are "trying to remember it as best they can." You know, "It might be I-IV-V, but I'm not sure." That said, I was raised on Allman Brothers and Cream. so jamming is perfectly okay...with decent players who listen to each other. Please, no 30-minute versions of "Whipping Post", though. I do not want to play "Mississippi Queen" with someone who can't decide if they are a drummer or a bassist. Here's what I have to offer that evidently isn't very marketable in the Wilmington area. Short haired, balding, bi-focaled retired professional (NOT in music) with flexible schedule. Easy to work with. Good work ethic/quick learner and experienced in several varieties of music. Excellent equipment. Own transportation. Spousal support for my music. Absolutely no drama, no substance issues. I am reliable and like to make practice worth the time it takes. Have sung lead, don't like it. Capable harmony singer. Really prefer just playing bass, but good mic, stand and processor, if needed. Have small, powered Yamaha PA; it will not compete with your Marshall stack: nor will I. Already half deaf from playing, anyway. I don't have an acoustic "doghouse" and my chart reading is a sick joke. I can do lead sheets and Nashville to a degree. I am extremely wide ranging in my tastes in music and can enjoy almost anything you want to play. Whether I can "play it just like on the album" is a very different question. Probably can get close, though. (Oh, and "which version from which album/video" is a question that has come up recently in some situations...so there's that). I'd simply like to play music (country, classic rock, variety, etc.) with other musicians of any persuasion. I do have other friends, so I don't need a "hang" nor use practice as a chance to get drunk or high, although neither bother me, if that's your thing. I just don't want to be there when you do it, whether at practice, gig or not. I am retired and don't care about your politics, nor do I want to hear about them. You do you...I'm good with that, if you are. I am ready to play with a group of whatever size you may have in mind, and I don't necessarily expect you to have a band together. That would be nice, but if we start out slow and just get a few things together every week or so, that's okay too. If you need to have a "hired gun" for next weekend, I am definitely NOT that guy. If you want me to leave my current band without giving them a lot of notice, that would also NOT be me. I have absolutely no plan or reason to leave that band, (nor am I married to them) but we're not practicing much, and things are pretty slow now, so I'd like to get playing more regularly. Oh, and BTW, I can co-exist with your keyboard player, but if you have one who stomps over bass lines, please "include me out" and let him/her/it be your bassist. I don't get into "dueling bass lines' with key players (usually, from "church" or who "play by ear" and who just can't help grabbing entire bass parts), UNLESS they want to spend the time it takes to work together so we don't get in each other's way. I'll take the time to do that...will they? Get in touch, if you want. We got nothing to lose but a few minutes finding out if we share that "vision thing" or not, you know...
