CIS & OAKMH is hosting a free EKG & Blood Pressure screening Monday, Feb. 21 at CIS Kaplan. February is American Heart Month and there's no better time to consider getting a heart check up. Did you know heart disease is the leading cause of death in the U.S.? Our physicians at Cardiovascular Institute of the South (CIS) want to see you before you have symptoms or a life-changing cardiac event. Cardiovascular Institute of the South (CIS) & Ochsner Abrom Kaplan Memorial Hospital are hosting free cardiovascular screenings at CIS Kaplan (711 N Montgomery Ave, Kaplan, LA 70548) on Monday, February 21 1:30 - 4:30 p.m. Guests will receive a complimentary electrocardiogram (EKG) screenings & blood pressure checks. An EKG is a painless test that records the electrical signals of the heart. The screening can detect blockages, the thickness of the heart wall, past heart attacks and more. Results will be reviewed on site. Risk factors of vascular disease include family history, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and diabetes, as well as smoking, being overweight or being inactive.
