Join us for the jigsaws, a series created by Lema Khorshid, where we explore common themes that shape our lives. jigsaws, hosted by Lema Khorshid, is a thematic experience that invites guests to hear from local movers and shakers from different ages, backgrounds and perspectives. Through compelling live storytelling and experience shares, this unique series draws on the wisdom and inspiring stories of thought leaders while inviting the audience to participate in a dialogue. We are thrilled to invite you to our February session. Details below. Program: 5:30 PM – 6:20 PM: Cocktail hour. Enjoy a drink while connecting with other attendees. 6:30 PM – 7:30 PM : jigsaws session, Theme: “What Matters Most”- a session that stresses ways to embrace adversity and harness your mental strength to continue to find purpose and make an impact. Moderated by: Lema Khorshid Guest Panelist: Norman Malone Chicago native Norman Malone discovered and began playing the piano at the age of 5. At ten years old Malone’s father attacked him with a hammer to the head. He was left with right-side paralysis, but could still use his left hand. It turns out there are piano compositions exclusively for the left or right hands. Malone taught himself to play the piano with his left hand and fully mastered his playing, joining an Orchestra at the age of 79. When not performing, Malone became a beloved music and choir instructor and conductor. He taught in public schools for 34 years and has a very large wall of testimonial plaques. Malone is also the subject of the documentary film “For the Left Hand”, event attendees will receive a link to the film post-talk. Due to new Chicago COVID mandates, starting January 3rd , everyone must provide proof of vaccination for COVID-19, as well as a photo ID to attend a class, event and to dine in our fuel space in our experiential spaces.
