Allan Traicoff, the Chief Commercial Officer of Emergent and a UT alum, will discuss what’s next for forest finance & conservation policy. COP26, the world’s latest global meeting on climate change, introduced several new agreements and pledges to the world. One of the most exciting announcements came from the LEAF Coalition, a group of companies and countries committed to “increasing ambition to protect tropical and sub-tropical forests and reducing deforestation.” With organization from nonprofit forest finance accelerator Emergent, LEAF mobilized $1 billion USD to provide funding for conservation. They have also received commitments from 19 corporate partners. Allan Traicoff, the Chief Commercial Officer of Emergent and a UT alum, will discuss what’s next for forest finance, conservation policy, and corporate conservation action in this lunchtime talk. NOTE - THIS EVENT HAS BEEN MOVED FROM 1/27 TO 2/10 The McCombs School of Business launched the Social Innovation Initiative (SII) as a hub for the UT Austin community to explore social entrepreneurship, corporate social innovation, and impact/ESG investing in 2017. The SII is developing curriculum and programming to broaden the school's support of these areas. Since our founding, the SII has introduced three new courses in Impact Investing, philanthropy, and social entrepreneurship, sponsored 15+ speaker events for over 900 students, launched the Longhorn Impact Fellowship at Texas McCombs (LIFT) consulting program, supported and advised undergraduate and MBA competition teams, sponsored the Sustainability Investment Group for aspiring impact investors, published a monthly newsletter under the name "The Innovator," launched a Texas Social Innovation Challenge with Bumble, and more. Regardless of what field our students work in, they must consider the social and environmental consequences of their work. Therefore, we are seeking partners to help us shape the future leaders of tomorrow through improved experiential learning programs, internships, and other strategic partnerships.
