Legacy Flight Academy Presents a Black History Month Aviation Heritage Event . Eyes Above the Horizon On Saturday, Febuary 19, 2022, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM at Joint B ase Charleston , Legacy Flight Academy (LFA) will be hosting a unique 1-Day Outreach and Flight Introduction Program, “Eyes Above The Horizon,” for students ages 10-19. Formal Check is from 8:00AM to 8:45AM. Students MUST show up within the check-in window to be guaranteed admittance to the program. The Eyes Above the Horizon kick-off will begin at 9:00AM and end at 4:00PM. Eyes Above the Horizon is an outreach and flight orientation program designed to inspire youth to reach beyond their familiar circumstances. As part of this objective--and to remove financial barriers--LFA is absorbing the $250 cost for individual student participation. Registration on EventBrite and parental permission is all that is required in order to participate in Eyes Above the Horizon!  This program gives under-represented and minority youth an opportunity to develop and foster an interest in aerospace careers through flight introductions, mentorship, and immersion into the rich history and LEGACY of the Tuskegee Airmen.  No previous aviation experience is necessary.  Saturday’s activities include: • An orientation flight in a single-engine airplane where students will actually fly an airplane  • Academic instruction in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (S.T.E.M.) • Lunch and a motivational speaker • Mentorship from civilian, commercial, and military aviation role models To learn more about the program, visit the website http://legacyflightacademy.org/eyes-above-the-horizon or email [email protected].
