Missing NH Girl's Father Suspect In 2008 MA Murder: Reports

LYNN, MA — Law enforcement sources told Boston 25 News and The Boston Globe the father of a missing New Hampshire girl is a suspect in an unsolved 2008 killing in Lynn. Harmony Montgomery, 7, has not been seen since late 2019. Her father, Adam Montgomery, is being held without bail on child abuse charges and is reportedly refusing to answer investigators' questions about his daughter's whereabouts. On Wednesday, Boston 25 News reported Montgomery was a suspect in the 2008 shooting death of 28-year-old Darlin Guzman in Lynn. Police found Guzman with a bullet wound to the chest just before 11 p.m. on Feb. 10, 2008, in a parking lot near Austin Square. Montgomery, who was 18 at the time, has been a suspect "almost since day one," according to Boston 25 News. No one has been charged with Guzman's murder. The Boston Globe reported Guzman's mother, Ramonita, said the family was "shocked" to learn of Montgomery's connection to the case but hopes investigators will focus on locating his daughter. "We're not going to get Darlin back," she said. The New Hampshire case has drawn national attention since Harmony's birth mother, Crystal Sorey, told Manchester police in December she had been unable to get in touch with the girl for more than two years. Adam Montgomery was arrested after police learned there was an assault accusation made by family members against him. State officials filed charges against the girl's stepmother, Kayla Montgomery, for welfare fraud after learning she had collected benefits for Harmony after her disappearance. Those charges were revised to include felony theft and other charges. At least one Manchester residence where the family lived has been extensively searched twice for evidence connected to the case. The reward for information that leads to the whereabouts of Harmony Montgomery has risen to $144,000.
