Man Charged With Criminal Impersonation, Harassment: Stamford PD

STAMFORD, CT — A Stamford man is accused of impersonating people online and making sexual advances towards a victim's aquaintances and coworkers, police said on Thursday. Pasha Torkamani, 37, was arrested Thursday morning on a warrant that charges him with criminal impersonation and second-degree harassment, according to a news release from the Stamford Police Department. Torkamani was able to post a $5,000 bond and was released; he's due in court on Feb. 2 for arraignment. Police said during the fall of 2021, the SPD began a criminal impersonation investigation after receiving a complaint from a female victim that someone had assumed her identity and was making sexual advances toward the victim's acquaintances and coworkers. "The suspect in this investigation used a combination of publicly accessible and private information to pose as the victim on various social media and other internet based platforms," police said Thursday. "The duration of the impersonation extended beyond a year's length in time." After a several month investigation by the Stamford Police Major Crimes Unit, Capt. Richard Conklin said they identified Torkamani and executed a search warrant and seized "a number of electronic devices" which have been forensically examined. Conklin said investigators uncovered an additional 12 identities of victims who were impersonated by Torkamani in a similar fashion. Conklin praised investigator Damien Rosa who worked on the lengthy case.
