NORWALK, CT — A woman has been charged with murder after a man found inside a Norwalk home with gunshot wounds died Thursday afternoon, according to police. Police Lt. Terrence Blake said officers arrested Ellen Wink, a 61-year-old Nelson Avenue resident, around 1 p.m. She was charged with murder and held on a $1 million bond. A Norwalk official confirmed Wink is the city's election administrator Republican deputy registrar, which is also indicated on the city's website. She also previously served as city clerk. According to Blake, the arrest stems from an incident Thursday in which a man was found inside a home on Nelson Avenue "suffering from gunshot wounds" around noon. The man was identified by police as Kurt Lametta, 54, of Nelson Avenue. Officers were sent to the area in response to a reported disturbance involving Lametta and Wink, Blake said. Police indicated Wink's residence was separate from the home where the incident took place. Norwalk Hospital Emergency Medical Service crews evaluated Lametta and declared him dead, Blake said. Officers located Wink at the scene of the incident, immediately detained her and, after further investigation, arrested her, Blake said. Lametta was a tenant at one of Wink's properties, and a prosecutor said they had an ongoing dispute that began in the fall of 2020, the Norwalk Hour reported. In 2020, Lametta is alleged to have stopped paying rent, the Norwalk Hour reported, citing police reports. In September 2021, Wink was charged after locking Lametta out of the residence and throwing away some of his personal items, the Hour reports. Wink had wanted to sell the rental property, according to the police report as cited by the Hour. Though the investigation is ongoing, Blake emphasized this was an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public. Anyone with information is asked to contact Norwalk police at 203-854-3011. >>>Read more details at the Norwalk Hour.
