Bone Fragments Found At Site Where Missing Woman From Marshall Fire Was Last Seen

By Sara Wilson, Colorado Newsline January 19, 2022 Investigators with the Boulder County Sheriff's Office have found bone fragments on the property where the final missing person from the Marshall Fire was last seen, officials announced Wednesday. The sheriff's and coroner's offices have been searching a property in the 1500 block of South 76th Street in Superior for the remains of Edna Nadine Turnbull. Turnbull, 91, went into the house to rescue her dogs after being notified to evacuate, officials said. The recovered bone fragments are now undergoing scientific testing to determine if they are human. That type of testing can take weeks to months. "We remain committed to seeking answers and closure for the Turnbull family," the sheriff's office said in a news release. The Marshall Fire burned over 6,000 acres and destroyed over 1,000 homes throughout Superior, Louisville and unincorporated Boulder County on Dec. 30. The cause of the fire is still being investigated. There is one confirmed fatality from the fire, 69-year-old Robert Sharpe. His partial remains were found within the 5900 block of Marshall Road in unincorporated Boulder on Jan. 5.
