Press release from the Horry County Government: January 21, 2022 Horry County Government has moved to OPCON 1 (Level 1 Operating Condition) meaning the county is now operating at full alert to address the severe winter weather event. The Horry County Emergency Operations Center is active in a remote, virtual state as of 7 a.m. this morning, Jan. 21, 2022. Horry County Emergency Management staff and agency partners are closely monitoring the situation. Weather forecasts from the National Weather Service in Wilmington, N.C. have placed Horry County under an Ice Storm Warning due to the threat of significant ice accumulations from a severe winter weather event. Horry County Government advises residents to take proper preparedness measures for the event.
