Wesselman Woods Names Garcia as Executive Director

By John Gibson , WNIN January 21, 2022 Wesselman Woods has a new leader. Board members have selected Zach Garcia as Wesselman's new Executive Director. Beginning February 1, Garcia will succeed Robin Johnston-Deem who has served in the post since early 2020. Johnston-Deem announced her departure in November with plans to move out West to be closer to family. Garcia is no stranger to Wesselman Woods, serving as Associate Executive Director since January 2021 and previously as Director of Natural Resources, Education, and Research. In a release, the Yale graduate said his personal and professional mission is to connect people to nature. Wesselman Woods is an old-growth forest off Boeke Road, with an interpretive center, classrooms, and nearly six miles of walking trails. It's managed by the Wesselman Nature Society. WNIN is the NPR/PBS affiliate in Evansville, Indiana. We serve Southwestern Indiana, Western Kentucky and Southern Illinois from our multimedia facility located on the Ohio River in downtown Evansville. For the past several years, the recognized quality of our local news has placed us among the best small market radio news organizations in the nation.
