Local Crime Task Force Wins Federal Award

By John Gibson, WNIN January 21, 2022 The Secret Service has presented an award to Vanderburgh County's Cyber Crime Task Force. The local task force received a Top Case Award from the federal agency for its work in a multi-state investigation that began last May. The probe led to the arrest of six suspects in a robbery at Bud's Harley Davidson on E. Morgan Avenue. The task force's lab connected the six with a St. Louis motorcycle gang and a series of Harley Davidson robberies across the Midwest. In a release, County Prosecutor Nick Hermann said the task force's technology has helped gain access to information that investigators have never had before. He said since January 2021, the task force has had an immediate impact in criminal investigations throughout the region. WNIN is the NPR/PBS affiliate in Evansville, Indiana.
