ST. CHARLES, IL — The St. Charles Public Library has closed its doors after receiving threats regarding the library's mask policies, according to media reports.
"This has to do with heightened threats to the library in regards to health and safety," St. Charles Library Director Edith Craig told the Kane County Chronicle on Friday. "The library has been receiving threatening emails and phone calls. We are trying to work with the St. Charles Police Department on safety measures to be able to put in place before we open our doors again."
Residents can utilize the library's virtual services and drive-up window, according to the library's website.
Meanwhile, the library board of trustees plans to meet for a virtual meeting on Saturday at 5 p.m. to discuss enforcement of library policies. Anyone wishing to submit a question or attend the meeting can email the library at [email protected].
