January 20, 2022
The Oak Forest City Council recently named Gary Kasper as the city's new fire chief. Kasper has been with the department for more than 20 years, most recently serving as deputy fire chief.
Kasper has been a catalyst for change within the fire department – implementing new policies and procedures, enhancing training techniques, improving service delivery, and maintaining accreditation and accountability. He has worked with the community on fire prevention education, collaborated with other city agencies to devise a disaster mitigation plan, and created a training matrix system to help firefighters build and enhance their skills.

He also recently completed the chief fire officer certification course provided by the Illinois Association of Fire Chiefs.
