Press release from the Osseo Area Schools ISD 279:
January 19, 2022
With the recent temporary transition to online learning, many teachers are taking this opportunity to use the best practices they learned over the past two years to engage their students virtually. Monica Healy, music teacher at Oak View Elementary School, is one of these teachers.
As an elementary music teacher, Healy works with students who are a variety of ages and must come up with activities that are engaging to all. She is focused not only on creating music, but joy with her students during this time.
"Music is all about sharing with a community - singing together, dancing together, making music - together. Music educators have reinvented the wheel to provide engaging lessons, keep kids making music wherever they are, and to continue to find the joy that is always present in music," Healy said.
Healy has stayed positive during these changes to online learning. She has gotten creative with her online lesson plans, putting in extra time to create interesting lessons for her students.
Healy brings joy into her classes through singing and dancing and seeing the connections with their homes and families.
"Seeing the little ones get up and dance in their kitchens, bedrooms, and family rooms brought me great joy," Healy said.
