Press release from Batavia Public School District 101: January 20, 2022 Wednesday, January 19, 2022 (Archivo de mensajes en español) Hello BPS101 Families- We are here this week to share some new information on absence reporting. We also have some reminders for events coming up in the District. Thank you for taking the time to read through these messages and stay up-to-date on things that are happening in the District. Mental and Behavioral Health Absences  As we move through our third school year impacted by the pandemic, the impact of this is unique for all of us. The State of Illinois signed a bill late last year which allows students access to five "Mental and Behavioral Health Days". Parents/guardians may call in and report a student's absence for this reason. Our District continues to believe that it is best for students to be at school, but parents know their child best and have this as a call in option. The schools will track student use of these absences and may follow up with students that use two or more to see if additional supports are needed. Be Heard – Community Engagement Sessions The Batavia Public School District is seeking community input on the future of our school facilities. You may have heard about the Building Our Future Together educational master facilities plan, and now we need your help in moving it forward. We will be hosting a series of community engagement sessions to gather feedback on where we are headed. Please join us for our first session on February 1st from 6:30 to 8:30 PM at Batavia High School. For more info, please visit https://www.bps101.net/boft/. Preschool Open House (TONIGHT) All parents/guardians with children that will be 3 or 4 years old by September 1, 2022, are invited to an informational session on the BPS101 preschool program and the preschool lottery. The 2022 Preschool Open House will take place TONIGHT, Wednesday, January 19, 2022, from 6 pm-7 pm. More… Kindergarten Meet & Greet If you have a child turning 5 by September 1, 2022, we invite you to join us for our Kindergarten Meet & Greet. These sessions allow families to submit all of their registration documents and meet a member of the administration team from their school. More… 5Essentials – 2022 Illinois Parent Survey In a Messenger that was sent to parents/guardians last week, we asked you to complete the University of Chicago 5Essentials survey. The results of this survey will be compiled and reported in aggregate, so your individual responses will not be shown. The survey will take about 6 minutes to complete, and we would appreciate the investment of your time. Some questions may be difficult because they were created pre-COVID; please answer the questions to the best of your ability. Be well, BPS101 This press release was produced by Batavia Public School District 101. The views expressed here are the author's own.
